Onomatopoeia

Japanese: 擬声語 - ぎせいご(英語表記)onomatopoeia
Onomatopoeia
Also called onomatopoeia, these are words that imitate sounds in nature using linguistic sounds. Rattle, boom, woof, chirp, etc. Some onomatopoeia are the names of the things that make the sounds they make, such as a toy rattle or the English word cuckoo. Naturally, onomatopoeia that express the same sound will be similar in different languages, but they can also show a great deal of diversity. For example, the sound of a dog barking is woof in Japanese, bow-wow in English, ouâ-ouâ in French, and gav-gav in Russian. Each language has a set of commonly used onomatopoeia, so new onomatopoeia are invented in literary works and manga to add a fresh touch. In a broad sense, onomatopoeic words can also be included in onomatopoeia.
