A secret society formed in the mid-1830s by Germans living in Paris, France. In Japanese it is called the "League of the Just." It was formed when a group with communist ideology split off from its predecessor, the "League of Exiles," which was made up mainly of political refugees and itinerant craftsmen from Germany. Schappa and Weidling were among its leaders. It later became the international organization known as the "Communist League." Source: About Shogakukan Digital Daijisen Plus Information |
