…After liberation in August 1945, he demanded the transfer of power from the Government-General, formed the Korean Founding Preparation Committee and became its chairman, and in September established the People's Republic of Korea and became its vice-chairman. After serving as chairman of the Korean People's Party and chairman of the Democratic National Front, he became chairman of the Working People's Party in 1947, walking a different path from the South Korean Workers' Party (Korean Workers' Party). He made efforts for cooperation as the left wing representative of the Left-Right Cooperation Committee, but was assassinated by the Syngman Rhee faction in July 1947. …
