Kinpu-ryu

Japanese: 錦風流 - きんぷうりゅう
Kinpu-ryu

...Based on this, a school of music called Kinko-ryu (still in existence to this day) was born in Edo, and later several schools were born in Kansai and other regions. Among them, the Soetsu-ryu (no longer in existence) of Kondo Soetsu, who was active in Osaka at the end of the Edo period, mainly performing gaikyoku (sankyoku ensemble), the Myoan Shinpo-ryu of Myoan-ji Temple in Kyoto, the Seien-ryu of the Hamamatsu Fudai-ji Temple system, and the Kinpu-ryu (also known as the Nezasa school), which became the hobby of Tsugaru feudal samurai in Hirosaki, are well known. The Fuke-ryu was abolished by order of the Meiji Restoration government in 1871 (Meiji 4), and the shakuhachi was also in danger of disappearing, but thanks to the efforts of Kinko-ryu leaders of the time such as Araki Kodo, it was allowed to survive as an instrument separate from the Fuke-ryu. Since then, Kinko-ryu has focused more on gaikyoku than honkyoku, and it has spread nationwide, centering on Tokyo.
