Yatogami - Yatogami
A snake god that appears in the section on Namekata County in the Hitachi no Kuni Fudoki.
During the reign of Emperor Keitai, they formed a group to defeat Matachi of the Yahazu clan, who was trying to cultivate the reed fields. Matachi defeated them and they were enshrined in the sacred area. They are interpreted as referring to the nature gods who live in the low marshes and streams of the valleys. They are also called "Yato no Kami."

Japanese:
「常陸国風土記(ひたちのくにふどき)」行方(なめかた)郡の段に登場する蛇神。
継体天皇の時代,葦原(あしはら)を開墾しようとした箭括氏麻多智(やはずのうじの-またち)を群れをなしておそう。麻多智にうちはらわれ,聖域内にまつられたという。谷あいの低湿地や沢にすむ自然神をさすと解される。「やとのかみ」ともよむ。
