The Indus River is a river in northwest India and northeast Pakistan. It originates from Lake Lanka in the Kailash Range in southwest Tibet, flows roughly westward, crosses the Himalayas, turns southwest, and joins the Chenab River in central Pakistan and then joins the Indus River. With a total length of 1,368 km, it is the longest of the five rivers of the Punjab. It is important for irrigation and power development, and the Bagra Dam is located upstream.
