1770‐1861 A Polish politician who lived through the tumultuous period from the partitions of Poland to the Great Exile after the November Uprising. The Czartoryski family was a Lithuanian noble family whose lineage can be traced back to the mid-15th century, but it was his grandfather, Aleksander August C. (1697-1782), who rose to prominence as a powerful magnate. His grandfather planned to put his son, Adam Kazimierz C.
