...A priest and onmyoji from the mid-Heian period. Also called Doma. He often appears as a person who competes in magic with Abe no Seimei. In the Kojidan, Uji Shui Monogatari, and Jikkunsho, it is said that Doma the priest performed a spell on Fujiwara no Michinaga at the command of Fujiwara no Akimitsu, but was discovered by Seimei as Michinaga's dog and banished to his home province of Harima. The same story appears in the Hoso-ki and Tosai Zuihitsu, where Doma is made out to be Doman. In the Hokishuuriden (copied around the end of the Muromachi period, owned by the Ryumon Bunko) and Hokisho (1629), Doman competes in magic with Seimei, loses, and becomes Seimei's disciple. ...
