Kagawa Waterworks Project

...Since the late 1960s, projects to store the abundant water of southern Shikoku in dams and send it to northern Shikoku have become popular. In Ehime Prefecture, water is sent from the Omogo Dam (completed in 1965) to the Dozen and Dogo plains, and from the Yanase Dam (Kinsha Lake, completed in 1953) to the Toyo Industrial Region. The largest projects were the Sameura Dam (completed in 1973) in Kochi Prefecture and the Kagawa Waterworks Project, which in 1974 built a tunnel through the Sanuki Mountains to send part of the Yoshino River water to the Sanuki Plain. These projects have largely solved the water shortage problem on the Seto Inland Sea side.

…1960年代後半から南四国の豊富な水をダムに貯水して北四国へ回す事業が盛んになり，愛媛県では面河（おもご）ダム(1965完成)から道前･道後両平野へ，柳瀬ダム(金砂（きんしや）湖，1953完成)から東予工業地域へ送水されるようになった。最大のものは高知県の早明浦（さめうら）ダム(1973完成)と香川用水事業で，74年には讃岐山脈をトンネルで抜いて吉野川の水の一部が讃岐平野に送水されるようになった。これらの事業によって瀬戸内側の水不足問題はかなり解決された。…
