Pony Express

Japanese: ポニー・エクスプレス(英語表記)pony express
Pony Express
A kind of postal service using horse riders to carry mail during the American Westward expansion. The service took about 10 days to complete the 3,200 km distance from St. Joseph, Missouri to San Francisco, California, with relay points set up about every 16 km. The fare was $5 per ounce. Although the service is well known, it was a temporary business before the completion of telegraph communication between the East and West, and lasted only a year and a half, from April 1860 to October 1861.
