In Russia, Kirsha Danilov's collection of folk songs was compiled in the second half of the 18th century (published in 1804), Afanasyev's collections of folk tales and legends were published in succession in the 1850s and 1860s, and oral epic poems called buirina were compiled and published by Rybnikov and Gyliferzink in the 1860s and 1870s.
