Stanisław August Poniatowski

Japanese: スタニスワフ・アウグスト・ポニャトフスキ(英語表記)Stanisław August Poniatowski
Stanisław August Poniatowski
1732‐98
The last king of Poland. Reigned 1764-95. Born in Woczyn (near Brześcz-Litewski), a Czartoryski estate in the Polesie region (now part of the Belorussian Republic). His father was an illegitimate son of the noble Sapiecha family. In 1720 he married a daughter of the Czartoryski family, and their sixth child was Stanisław. He acquired Enlightenment ideas through a thorough education and travels in Western Europe. Thanks to the efforts of the Czartoryski family, he was appointed dining officer to the Grand Prince of Lithuania (a nominal title with a similar meaning to an order) in 1755, and then secretary to the British Embassy in 1755-56.
