Tairyo-bushi

Japanese: 大漁節 - たいりょうぶし

〘Noun〙 A folk song sung to celebrate a big catch, to celebrate before a big catch, or as a prayer. There are songs in various places, but the one in Choshi, Chiba is famous. It is in the form of a counting song, and is said to have originated when a big catch of sardines was caught off the coast of Choshi in 1864 ( Genji 1 ), and a big catch festival was held at Kawaguchi Myojin, the local shrine, when fishermen Ajiro Kyusaburo and Matsumoto Kyokue donated the song. *Largely expanded and revised version, Kore wa Bensida (1936) by Shimonaka Yasaburo, "Dairefubushi Tairyobushi"

〘名〙大漁祝いや大漁の前祝い、祈願などに歌われる民謡。各地にあるが、千葉県銚子のものが有名。数え歌形式で、元治元年（一八六四）銚子沖で鰯(いわし)の大漁があり、氏神の川口明神で大漁祭が行なわれた時、網元の網代久三郎、松本旭江らが寄進したのに始まるという。※大増補改訂や、此は便利だ（1936）〈下中彌三郎〉「だいれふぶし大漁節」
