A perennial aquatic plant of the Scrophulariaceae family. It grows in shallow, still water areas of rice paddies and swamps, and in marshes. It has a slight fragrance. Its underground stems grow 10-20 cm long in the mud. Pinnately lobed leaves grow in whorls at each node of the aquatic stem. ゴマノハグサ科の多年生の水草。水田や沼の浅くて水が動かないところや,湿地に生じる。わずかに芳香がある。長さ 10~20cmで泥中に地下茎が伸びる。水中茎の各節に羽状に裂けた葉が輪生する。夏から秋に,紅紫色の無柄の花が葉腋につく。
