Antan (English spelling) dull coal

When observing coal with the naked eye, it is found to be a mixture of bright and soot-like areas that do not shine. The latter, less bright areas are called dark coal. Compared to bright coal, which is bright, dark coal is qualitatively coarse and has an uneven structure, and does not reflect light well, so it does not shine. Coal tissue components include a large amount of inertinites (thermally and chemically inactive components) such as mineral matter, micrinite, semifusinite, and sclerotinite.

肉眼で石炭を観察すると、輝きの強い部分と煤(すす)のような感じの輝きのない部分が混在している。後者の輝度の低い部分を暗炭という。輝度の高い部分である輝炭に比べて、暗炭は質的に粗雑で不均一な構造を呈し、光の反射が悪いため輝きがない。石炭組織成分として、鉱物質、ミクリニット、セミフジニット、スクレロチニットなどイナーチニット類（熱的、化学的に不活性な成分）を多く含んでいる。
