Laws of Ine

Japanese: イネ法典 - イネほうてん（英語表記）Laws of Ine

This is a code of law that is said to have been compiled by King Inne (reigned 688-726) of Wessex, a kingdom in the Anglo-Saxon period of England. It is one of the many tribal codes found in Europe around this time, and is famous as the first code of law of the Kingdom of Wessex, which later unified England. Like other tribal codes, it mainly consists of a table of penances for various crimes, but like other Anglo-Saxon tribal codes, it is written in Anglo-Saxon rather than Latin, and it is not greatly influenced by Roman law.

イギリスのアングロ･サクソン時代の一王国であったウェセックスWessexの王イネ(在位688‐726)が編纂したとされる法典。この前後のヨーロッパに多く見られる部族法典の一つで，後にイングランドを統一するウェセックス王国の最初の法典として有名である。内容は他の部族法典と同様，主として種々の犯罪に対する贖罪金表から成っているが，他のアングロ･サクソンの部族法典と同じく，ラテン語でなくアングロ･サクソン語で書かれ，またローマ法の影響が薄いなどの特徴がある。
