The highest administrative office in the Joseon Dynasty (Yi Dynasty). It was also called Dodang or Hwangak. In Jeongjong 2 (1400), Dohyoyisasi, which had existed since Goryeo, was renamed Uijeongbu and became a meeting body for civil servants only. The following year, Taejong 1 (01), the Monhabu was abolished and its bureaucrats were made employees of Uijeongbu to handle general affairs. In the same year, the general administrative affairs were divided into six sections, and Uijeongbu only held meetings when important national events occurred. In Sejong 18 (36), Uijeongbu was again placed in charge of the six sections. After that, the authority of Uijeongbu expanded and contracted over time, and during the reign of Myeongjong (1545-66), the real power of Uijeongbu was transferred to the Bibyeonsa, and later, in Gojong 31 (1894), it was reorganized as the Cabinet. However, the name remained until Gojong 45 (1907). The officials included one Chief Vice-Chancellor (Senior First Rank), one each of Left and Right Vice-Chancellors (Senior First Rank), one each of Left and Right Supporters (Junior First Rank), and one each of Left and Right Advisors (Senior Second Rank).
