The supreme deity of Taoism. In Taoism, Yuanshi Tianzun has long been regarded as the supreme presiding deity, but it is said that Yuanshi Tianzun was incarnated to rule the heavens as the Jade Emperor. The honorific title of Jade Emperor was created during the Northern Song Dynasty's True School.
