…When a mixture of cohesive particles or particles dispersed at a certain concentration is stirred thoroughly in a container to make it uniform and then left to stand, a clear liquid layer forms at the top over time, and a clear boundary surface formed between the clear liquid layer and the particle mixture layer moves downward, while a layer of high concentration rises from the bottom. This phenomenon is called hindered settling, and the relationship between the clear interface height and time at this time is expressed by a batch settling curve.
