Born: Around 1670, Venice Died December 28, 1736. Italian composer from Vienna. Student of G. Legrenzi. From 1700 he traveled to Rome, Milan, Madrid, etc., and in 1716 he became assistant conductor at the Vienna court under J. Fuchs. A prolific composer with over 100 operas and oratorios. He influenced Haydn through pre-classical composers. He also left behind a large number of chamber music and religious music.
