Kyoto Student Federation

Japanese: 京都学生連盟 - きょうとがくせいれんめい
Kyoto Student Federation

[After World War II]
The student movement was revived by criticism of militaristic education during the war and, in the postwar period, criticism of the unprincipled professors who preached democracy. In November 1945, the Kyoto Student Federation (with participation from Kyoto Imperial University, Doshisha University, Ritsumeikan University, etc.) was formed, and in December the Tokyo Student Liaison Conference (with participation from Tokyo Imperial University, Waseda University, Keio University, Tokyo Women's Christian University, etc.) was formed, marking the beginning of the revival of student union organizations. Student councils were also organized at each university with the aim of developing the student movement on a mass scale, and in November 1946 the National Student Union was launched as a union of student councils from Waseda University, Kyoto Imperial University, Tokyo Imperial University, etc.
