The prohibition of false education

Japanese: 偽学の禁 - ぎがくのきん
The prohibition of false education
This incident occurred during the Qingyuan era (1195-1200) in the Southern Song Dynasty of China, when Zhu Xi (the son) and his school were oppressed. It is also called the Qingyuan Party Ban. It began in 1194 (the 5th year of the Shaoxi era, when Zhu Xi was 65 years old), when Zhu Xi, who had been promoted from a local official to a political advisor to the emperor, criticized the tyranny of Han Lai-chu, a relative of the empress. Han Lai-chu and his followers denigrated Zhu Xi's new learning, which was then called Taoism, as "fake learning," and called the group a "fake party" and even a "reverse party," creating a blacklist (fake learning and reverse party membership), blocking their path to government office and banning their writings and the circulation of the Six Classics and Four Books.
