Olfactory mucosa

It is a part of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, and occupies only the part called the olfactory region, where the olfactory nerve is distributed. The olfactory region is the superior turbinate at the top of the nasal cavity and the nasal septum, and differs from the mucous membrane of the other parts, i.e., the respiratory region, in that it is dark brown in color. 鼻腔の粘膜の一部で，嗅部と呼ばれる嗅神経の分布する部分だけを占める。嗅部は鼻腔上部の上鼻甲介とそれに対する鼻中隔の部分で，その他の部分すなわち呼吸部の粘膜とは，暗褐色を帯びる点で異なる。嗅粘膜の上皮は嗅神経がつながる嗅細胞という細長い感覚細胞である。→嗅覚
