Mining and manufacturing
A general term for mining and manufacturing. Of the three industries directly involved in the production of goods - agriculture, forestry and fisheries, mining, construction and manufacturing - the latter three are considered to represent industrial activity, and so they are collectively referred to as mining and manufacturing. By industry, manufacturing accounts for the majority. Important economic indicators such as the mining and manufacturing production index are compiled.
