Japanese: 川口[市] - かわぐち

A city in the southern tip of Saitama Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1933. Most of the city is alluvial lowland on the north bank of the Arakawa River, and it borders Kita Ward, Tokyo, across the river. In the early modern period, it developed as a post town on the Nikko Onari Highway. It has long been known as a town of foundries, and the cupolas of foundries were a distinctive sight, but they have now declined. In the 1960s, factories near Kawaguchi Station were relocated to an industrial complex in the east due to noise and other issues, and a housing complex was built near the station. Currently, a wide variety of industries, including metals, general machinery, steel, publishing and printing, are located here, and the city is fourth in the prefecture in terms of manufactured goods shipment value, which was 517 billion yen (2003). Fishing rods are a specialty product, and Angyo is famous for producing bonsai seedlings. The Keihin-Tohoku Line, Musashino Line, and Tohoku Expressway pass through the city. Hatogaya City was incorporated in October 2011. 61.95 ^{km 2} . 561,506 people (2010).

埼玉県南端部の市。1933年市制。大部分は荒川北岸の沖積低地で，荒川を隔てて東京都北区と接する。近世は日光御成街道の宿場町として発達。古くから鋳物の町として知られ，鋳物工場のキューポラが特色ある景観であったが現在は衰退。1960年代から川口駅付近にあった工場は，騒音などのため，東部の工業団地へ移転，駅付近には住宅団地が建設された。現在は金属，一般機械，鉄鋼，出版・印刷など多種多様な工業が立地し，製造品出荷額で5170億円（2003）を上げ，県内４位である。特産に釣竿があり，安行(あんぎょう)は盆栽苗木の産で有名。京浜東北線，武蔵野線，東北自動車道が通じる。2011年10月鳩ヶ谷市を編入。61.95km²。56万1506人（2010）。
