Around the same time, other films were being produced, such as photographer Ralph Steiner's _H2O (1924), which captured the light-reflecting surface of water with a telephoto lens, as well as Dr. Caligari-esque works such as Charles Klein's Betraying Heart (1928) and James Sigley Watson and Melville Webber's The Fall of the House of Usher (1928), for which the term "Caligarize" was even coined, as well as films by the same duo that dealt with homosexuality, which became a typical theme of later "underground films," and Charles Bidour's The Bridge and The Spy (both 1931-32), which put into practice the theory of montage known as the "Soviet Technique." Elia Kazan and L. Jacobs, who would later become Hollywood directors, also participated in the production of Experimental Films, but the films that were most notable were The Life and Death of 9413 – Hollywood Extras (1928, cameraman: Gregg Toland), which Robert Florey, then an assistant director, made for just $100 using his own garage as the set, and The Last Moments (1928) by Paul Fejos, who would also later become a Hollywood director.
