The myth of the transfer of the country

Japanese: 国譲り神話 - くにゆずりしんわ

This is a myth that tells of how Okuninushi presented Ashihara no Nakatsukuni to Amaterasu Omikami. There are various different versions, but according to the Kojiki, Amenohohi (Ame no Hohi), who was sent from Takamagahara to pacify Ashihara no Nakatsukuni, first, but he became friendly with Okuninushi and did not report back even after three years. Next, Amewakahiko (Ame no Wakahiko) was sent, but he married Okuninushi's daughter Shitateruhime and also did not report back, and was eventually killed by an arrow from Takamagahara.

大国主（おおくにぬし）神が葦原中国（あしはらのなかつくに）を天照大神（あまてらすおおかみ）に献上した次第を語る神話。諸々の異伝があるが，《古事記》によると，葦原中津国平定のために高天原（たかまがはら）からは，はじめに天菩比（あめのほひ）神(天穂日命)が遣わされるが，オオクニヌシと親しみ3年たっても復命しない。次に天若日子（あめわかひこ）(天稚彦)が遣わされるが，オオクニヌシの娘下照比売（したてるひめ）と結婚してこれもまた復命せず，ついには高天原からの矢にあたって死ぬ。
