A town facing the Tsugaru Straits in Kamiiso District, Hokkaido. The Hokkaido Shinkansen and the Dounan Isaribi Railway run through the town. Part of the lowlands downstream of the Kikonai River have been used for rice paddies since the Edo period. The town is also home to aquaculture, dairy farming, and forestry, as well as abalone, sea urchin, kelp, and scallops. The town suffered damage in the Great East Japan Earthquake. Area: 221.87 km2 . 北海道上磯郡，津軽海峡に面する町。北海道新幹線，道南いさりび鉄道が通じる。木古内川下流低地は江戸時代から一部が水田化された。アワビ，ウニ，コンブ，ホタテガイなどの栽培漁業，酪農，林業も行われる。東日本大震災で，町内において被害が発生。221.87km2。5341人（2010）。
