Japanese: あんば大杉 - あんばおおすぎ

This faith is centered around Awa Osugi Shrine in Sakuragawa Village, Inashiki District, Ibaraki Prefecture. As a god who wards off smallpox, it has spread to various parts of the Kanto region, where it is worshipped as a shrine within the precincts and small shrines. In Inba District and Katori District, Chiba Prefecture, the Anba Bayashi, which goes "Anba Osugi Daimyojin, drive away the devil, Yoiyasa," is passed down, and the Anba dance is performed on the festival day for the smallpox god in March. In some areas, events such as Tengu masks borrowed from the shrine and portable shrines going around the village to ward off evil epidemics can be seen. This faith can be seen as a kind of plague festival, in which the god who brings evil epidemics such as smallpox and smallpox is worshiped and sent off.

茨城県稲敷郡桜川村の阿波大杉神社を中心とする信仰。疱瘡除けの神として，関東地方の各地に広まり，境内社，小祠としてまつられている。千葉県印旛郡や香取郡では，〈あんば大杉大明神，悪魔をはらってヨイヤサ〉というあんばばやしが伝えられていて，3月の疱瘡神の祭日にあんば踊をする。神社から借り受けた天狗面や，神輿が村内を回って，悪疫をはらうなどの行事を伝える地域も見られる。疱瘡，天然痘などの悪疫をもたらす神をまつりこめて，送り出す疫神祭的な信仰と見ることができる。
