In 1053, after retiring from his prime ministerial position as a priest, he devoted himself to educating the next generation. He established the Kusai Academy, which offered nine specialized courses, and this marked the beginning of private schools in Korea, with a total of 12 private schools established at the time. The students of the Kusai Academy were called Choi Gongdo (later Munheon Gongdo), and many excellent people came from the Academy, so he was called the Confucius of the East Sea. …
