A term in Christian theology. From the theological perspective that God actively realizes his will in human history and presides over history for the salvation of humankind, the entire history of humankind up to the end of time is seen as a history of salvation by God. This characteristic is clearly seen in the history recorded in the Old Testament, especially in the history of the Israelite people, which began with God's revelation to Abraham. In Christianity, this history is considered to be a stage of preparation for the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, and it is believed that the history of the Old Testament (old covenant), which promised salvation given to Israel, ended with the appearance of Jesus Christ, and a new stage of salvation history began for humankind with the promise of a new salvation through Christ's atonement on the cross, that is, the New Testament. The salvation-historical view of history was already put forward in the Old Testament by the author of Deuteronomy and the prophets, but is prominent in the New Testament by Paul and Luke. Even today, Christian historical theology is based on the salvation-historical view.

キリスト教神学の用語。神が人類の歴史のうちに積極的にその意志を実現し，人類の救いのために歴史の主宰者となっているとする神学的立場から，終末にいたる人類史の全体は，神による救済史としてとらえられる。旧約聖書に記された歴史，特にアブラハムに対する神の啓示に始るイスラエル民族の歴史のうちにその特質が顕著に認められる。この歴史はキリスト教においてはメシアであるイエス・キリストの来臨を待つ準備の段階とされ，イスラエルに与えられた救いの約束としての旧約 (古い契約) の歴史は，イエス・キリストの出現とともに終り，キリストの十字架上の贖罪による新しい救いの約束，すなわち新約によって人類に新しい救済史の段階が始ったと考えられている。救済史的な史観は，旧約聖書のなかでは，すでに『申命記』の著者や預言者たちによって打出されているが，新約聖書ではパウロやルカに顕著に認められる。現代でもキリスト教の歴史神学は救済史観を基本としている。
