A term used in Gestalt psychology. It is the determination to carry out a specific action to achieve a certain goal when an appropriate opportunity arises. It can be divided into cases related to the selection of a goal and cases related to the selection of a means to achieve a goal, and generally the former is related to attitude and the latter to intention. The mental tension caused by intention is considered to have a similar function to the tension caused by natural needs such as appetite and sexual desire, and K. Lewin named it a quasi-need.
