[Molding method]
There are several methods for forming plastic films, such as casting, in which a polymer solution is extruded into a coagulating liquid and solidified, as in cellophane, and calendaring, in which a polymer is mixed with plasticizers and additives, sent between rolls, and repeatedly heated and rolled (calendered) to form a film, as in polyvinyl chloride film (Figure 1). However, the most common method is melt extrusion. There are two types of melt extrusion: the inflation method and the T-die method, which are described below.
