The ancient royal family of Sweden and Norway. According to Nordic legend, the royal family of Uppsala in central Sweden dates back to the god Odin, and is called Yngling after the fourth king, Yngvi (also known as Frey). The 5th to 7th century tombs in Uppsala are said to be the graves of the Yngling kings sung about in the English poem Beowulf and the 9th century Norwegian verse poem Ynglinga Tal. According to Ynglinga Tal, Harald I, who unified Norway, belonged to the Yngling royal family, which moved to southeastern Norway in the 8th century.
