〘 noun 〙 A word that expresses the action or thing that is acted upon by a verb. Object. Guest. Kakugo. [Additional note] The "Kakugo" reading is written in the furigana in "Koku Nihon Bunten" (Otsuki Fumihiko), published in 1897 , and the index of "Nihon Bunpo-ron" (Yamada Takao), published in 1898, lists it in the "Ka" section, so it appears that it was commonly read as "kakugo" during the Meiji period.
