A type of job seeker benefit stipulated in the Employment Insurance Law. A benefit paid to an insured person under the Employment Insurance Act when he or she becomes unemployed. To receive this benefit, certain conditions must be met, such as having been an insured person for at least 12 months in the two years prior to losing one's job (in the case of losing one's job due to bankruptcy, dismissal, etc., having been an insured person for at least six months in the year prior to losing one's job). It is also commonly known as unemployment benefits or unemployment benefits.

雇用保険法に規定される求職者給付の一。雇用保険の被保険者が失業した際に給付される手当。受給するためには、離職前の2年間に被保険者期間が12か月以上（倒産・解雇等の理由による離職の場合は離職前の1年間に被保険者期間が6か月以上）などの条件を満たす必要がある。俗に、失業手当、失業給付ともいう。
