Korean poet, monk, and independence activist. His real name was Han Yu-cheon, and his pen name was Manhae, and his Buddhist name was Ryuun. He was born in Hongseong, South Chungcheong Province. He devoted his life to the independence movement, including signing the Declaration of Independence during the March 1st Independence Movement (1919), and to the Buddhist reform movement.
