After the civil war between the Northern and Southern Courts, the temple grounds were often the site of battles, and in 1576 (Tensho 4) it was reduced to ashes by Oda Nobunaga, but with the support and fundraising efforts of Toyotomi Hideyoshi it was rebuilt in 1600 (Keicho 5), burned down again in 1615 (Genna 1), and restored by Tenkai in 1619 (Genna 5), ​​and has since become a branch temple of Nikko Rinnoji. The various halls within the temple are designated as temples of the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of Osaka, and a pilgrimage to the various halls is considered the same as a pilgrimage to the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples, so there is a constant stream of visitors, and the town outside the temple is lined with shops and bustling with entertainment performances. The temple has endured repeated damage, including destruction of the temple buildings in 1773 (An'ei 2), a fire in 1801 (Kyowa 1), a typhoon in 1934, and war damage in 1945, but has been rebuilt each time through fundraising efforts and continues to exist as a sacred site for Prince Shotoku and a temple for the worship of ancestors.

…　南北朝の内乱以後寺域はしばしば戦場となり，1576年(天正4)織田信長により灰燼と化したが，豊臣秀吉の援助と勧進活動により1600年(慶長5)再興，15年(元和1)再度焼失，19年(元和5)天海が復興し，以来日光輪王寺の末寺となった。寺内諸堂は大坂三十三所観音霊場札所にあてられ，諸堂巡拝は三十三所巡礼と同じとされて参詣者がたえず，寺外の門前町には店が並び，芸能が演じられてにぎわった。　1773年(安永2)伽藍大破，1801年(享和1)火災，1934年台風災害，45年戦災など，たび重なる被害をくぐりぬけ，そのつど勧進活動により復興され，太子の霊場，先祖供養の寺として信仰され，生きつづけている。…
