Huiban - Kihan

…Erhuang is a melody that takes advantage of the characteristics of southern music that developed in Hubei and Anhui, and was brought to Beijing in 1790 (55th year of the Qianlong era) by a troupe led by Gao Langting, a female actor from Anhui. It is said that Xipi is a southernization of Shaanxi's Qinqu, which is a northern tune, that was introduced to Hubei. In the early Daoguang period (1821-50), Huiban (an Anhui theater troupe), which had previously used Erhuang as its main style, also used Xipi, thereby establishing the basis of Pihuangxi, or Peking opera. Furthermore, it absorbed the advantages of the styles and melodies of many previous traditional theater styles, such as Kunqu, which had originated in Jiangsu and held the mainstream position for many years, Baozi, which is a Qinqu style, and Jingqu, which is a style descended from Yiyangqu, and grew rapidly, becoming the king of the theater world. …

…二黄は湖北･安徽に育った南方系音楽の特色をひく曲調で，1790年(乾隆55)安徽の女形役者，高朗亭の率いる一座によって北京にもたらされた。西皮は，北曲系統の陝西の秦腔（しんこう）が湖北に伝わって南方化したものだといわれ，道光年間(1821‐50)初年には，それまで二黄を主用していた徽班(安徽人の劇団)が，この西皮をも併用することによって，〈皮黄戯〉すなわち京劇がその基礎を確立した。さらにそのうえに，江蘇に発生し長年主流の座をしめてきた崑曲（こんきよく）や，秦腔系の梆子（ほうし），弋陽腔（よくようこう）の系統をひく京腔など，多くの先行伝統劇種の様式や曲調の長所をも吸収して飛躍的に成長し，劇界の覇者となるに至った。…
