Japanese: 黄瓜御薗 - きうりのみその

In the Middle Ages, those who produced and prepared cucumbers for the Emperor were called cucumber offering people. Its origins are thought to have been in the gardens of the Sonoto, the Imperial Household Ministry's Garden and Pond Office under the Ritsuryo system, where people were exempt from various duties and focused on growing vegetables, the Shikishi system, Shimoyamashiro, and the Naizenshi gardens established in Yamato. With the development of the manor-like division of labor in the Middle Ages, they were organized as Misono and offering people. The governing body was the Mizushidokoro, which prepared offerings for the Emperor, but later came under the control of the Kuraiyo.

中世，天皇に供御（くご）の黄瓜を備進した菜園で，生産，備進に従う者を黄瓜供御人といった。その源流は，令制下宮内省園池司で諸役を免ぜられて蔬菜の種殖に従った園戸，式制下山城，大和に設けられていた内膳司の園地にあったと考えられるが，中世の荘園制的分業の展開にともなって，御薗および供御人として編成された。統轄機関は，天皇の供御を調進する御厨子所（みずしどころ）であったが，のち内蔵寮（くらりよう）の支配下に入った。
