This meant that Chion-in Temple would be responsible for the imperial permission of the monks of the temple in each province to wear incense, and if they disobeyed, it would be ordered to destroy the permission. At Chion-in Temple, this is called a "destruction decree." Chion-in Temple Sonsho and Zojo-ji Temple Son'o were the ones who contributed to the establishment of the Jodo sect in the early modern period. …
