Born: August 13, 1853 in Troia, Puglia [Died] December 9, 1931. Rome. Italian politician and lawyer. Professor of Public Administration at the University of Rome, he was a member of parliament belonging to the liberal right since 1886, and served as Minister of Agriculture (1899) and Minister of Finance (1906, 1906-1909-10), before becoming Prime Minister in March 1914. When World War I broke out, he concluded the Secret Treaty of London (15) with Britain and France, abolishing the Triple Alliance between Germany, Austria, and Italy, and setting the conditions for Italy's entry into the war in May 1915. He resigned as Prime Minister in 1916. After the war, he was sympathetic to the Fascist movement and served as Chief Delegate to the League of Nations under Mussolini's cabinet.
