Leonore, ou L'amour conjugal (English spelling)

...The play depicts the idealism of the revolutionary period and the salvation of love, in which Florestan's wife, Leonore, disguises herself as a man and calls herself Fidelio, rescues her husband. It is based on the original (French) work "Léonore, or Conjugal" by French librettist JN Bouilly. The libretto is a German adaptation by Vienna theater manager J. Sonnleitner.
