A saprophytic plant of the orchid family (APG classification: Orchidaceae). It is similar to the Japanese orchid, but its flowers are pale yellow. It produces many flowers, with 6 to 17 flowers, each about 2 cm in diameter, arranged rather densely. It also has a characteristic that its rhizome branches significantly. While the Japanese orchid is distributed somewhat biased toward the Sea of Japan side, this species is distributed on the Pacific coast of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu west of the Kanto region.
