Wood - Mokhon

Japanese: 木本 - もくほん
Wood - Mokhon
Among seed plants, those whose above-ground stems survive for many years and undergo secondary thickening growth by division of the cambium layer within the vascular bundles of the stem. It is the opposite of herbaceous plants and has been used for convenience. Compared to herbaceous plants, the xylem is more developed. It is common in gymnosperms and dicotyledonous plants, and the former in particular are all woody. They are broadly divided into trees and shrubs. Ferns such as the tree ferns and monocotyledonous plants such as palms have a woody appearance, but they do not undergo secondary thickening growth and do not develop true trunks.
