MRS - Male and Female

In DDS tape media, this is a method for communicating media specifications such as the type of tape (audio DAT tape, DDS data tape, cleaning tape) and recording length to the tape drive. These are distinguished by changing the depth of four holes engraved on the outside of the tape cassette. DDS tapes also have a striped pattern (stripes) between the transparent part at the beginning of the tape (leader tape) and the magnetic tape part.
