In DDS tape media, this is a method for communicating media specifications such as the type of tape (audio DAT tape, DDS data tape, cleaning tape) and recording length to the tape drive. These are distinguished by changing the depth of four holes engraved on the outside of the tape cassette. DDS tapes also have a striped pattern (stripes) between the transparent part at the beginning of the tape (leader tape) and the magnetic tape part. DDS用テープメディアにおいて、テープの種類(オーディオDATテープ、DDS用データテープ、クリーニングテープ)や記録長などのメディアの仕様をテープドライブに伝えるための方法。テープカセットの外部に刻まれた4つの穴の深さを変えることによってこれらを区別する。またDDS用テープでは、テープ先頭の透明な部分(リーダーテープ)と磁気テープ部分の間に縞状の模様(ストライプ)が入っている。
