[Explanation-based learning]
The generalization and specialization mentioned above are often operations based only on the form of the concept description, but there are so many different directions that learning requires many examples. Deductive learning methods try to improve efficiency by using domain knowledge and inference (by contrast, neural networks and concept learning generalize examples, so they are called inductive learning). A representative example of this is "explanation-based learning."
