The name of one of the countries in Wakoku in the 3rd century. It is also read as "Toumakoku." In the Gishi Wajinden, it is listed as a country following Tsushima, Iki, Matsuro, Ito, Na, and Fumi, and it is described as "a twenty-day journey by sea to the south to Toumakoku. The official was called Mimi, and the deputy was called Miminari. There were over 50,000 households." This number of households is second only to the 70,000 or so households of Yamatai, said to be located to the south, which gives an idea of its large scale. According to the Kyushu theory that Tomakoku was the location of Yamataikoku, it is believed to be located in places such as Takuma district in Takagi county, Satsuma, the area around Tsuma Shrine in Koyu county, Hyuga, Tamana and Takuma counties in Higo, Kamitsuma and Shimotsuma in Chikugo, while according to the Yamato theory, it is believed to be located in Tamanoya district in Saba county in Suo, Tomotsu in Bingo, Izumo, and Tajima.
