(3) Consumer cities: There are many types of consumer cities, including political cities as political centers, military cities established by the presence of the military, academic cities based on the presence of universities and research institutes, religious cities with religious facilities and centers of faith, tourist cities with tourist facilities and serving as tourist bases, resort cities built in hot spring areas or summer and winter resorts, and residential cities with outstanding residential functions as satellite cities. These are cities where goods flow in and are consumed within the city, and only waste products go out. The above three classifications are based on the most prominent or most distinctive function among the various functions of a city, but large cities usually combine all three functions, and are classified separately as comprehensive cities.
