Naseby

…14 June 1645, a battle that determined the victory of the Parliamentary forces in the English Puritan Revolution. At Naseby, about 30 km south of Leicester, 7,500 Royal troops led by Charles I and Prince Rupert challenged a Parliamentary force of 14,000, mainly consisting of Fairfax and Cromwell's troops, in a decisive battle, suffering a devastating defeat with 1,000 killed and 5,000 taken prisoner. This victory for the Parliamentary forces was the first glorious achievement of the New Model Army, which had been organized earlier that year, and marked a turning point in the subsequent development of the Revolution. …
